Environmental policy for our Mumbles Self-Catering Accommodation

Environmental Policy for Langland Cove Guesthouse

In implementing an Environmental policy, we genuinely care about the environment and strive to make a difference and reduce our carbon footprint. From the food on your plate to the toiletries in your bathroom, we are constantly trying to find ways to improve. To achieve this takes time but we are finding new ways to help every day.

Environmental Policy at Langland Cove B&B, Mumbles, Swansea

This Environmental Policy page is a list of the actions we take so far to help minimise our impact on the planet:

Shopping Locally

We shop locally where possible, sourcing our produce from Gower and surrounds to keep our food miles low and support local business. We choose ethically sourced, fairly traded products from accountable suppliers.

Recycling

We recycle as much as possible, which means that all our cardboard, paper plastic, glass, tin and food waste is cleaned, sorted, stored and recycled every fortnight.

Line Drying

We line-dry our laundry come rain or shine, finishing them off with a lightening-quick blast in the tumble dryer to soften them up. Nobody likes cardboard towels!

Linen Changes

We change the sheets and towels twice a week for long-stay guests. If you wish to have them changed more regularly please put towels on the floor and advise us if you wish the beds changed and we will be happy to oblige.
Gardens are wildlife-rich environments, therefore we don’t use any chemicals to garden. While we are not experts in horticulture, we have taken advice and chosen plants to encourage wildlife. We also have water butts to collect rainwater which we use sparingly.

Real Leaf Tea & Freshly Ground Coffee

We don’t use individual sachets of tea, coffee and ‘uht’ milk in guest rooms – we give you real tea leaves and freshly-ground coffee in small, re-usable pots.

Toiletries

Our environmentally-friendly toiletries are re-fillable, which minimises plastic waste. We also recycle your leftover soaps so none of our toiletries go to waste.

Energy Saving Lightbulbs

Almost all our lightbulbs are energy-saving, and all our toilets have dual-flush to save water.

Re-use

All old duvets and pillows are donated to Llys Nini Animal Rescue Centre to be used as bedding for homeless animals.

To help us be as green as possible, please consider your own energy usage during your stay. You could…

  • Turn off lights and TV when not in use to reduce energy waste.
  • Be mindful when using water – turn off the tap when brushing your teeth.
  • Explore and enjoy the local area. How about making use of the bus to enjoy the Gower Peninsula, or borrowing a bike or paddle board to explore under your own steam?

If you have any other suggestions for our Environmental Policy for how we can be more green please let us know!
